About Rail Relaxation
The Project
Rail Relaxation is a collection of over 400 railway cab ride videos filmed across 23 countries. Every video is a real journey on a real train — unedited, unscripted, no commentary, no music. Just the sound of the rails and the view from the driver's seat.
Whether it's a high-speed line through the Alps or a quiet branch line winding through the countryside, each ride tells its own story.
The Map
At the heart of this project is an interactive map where every route is plotted using actual GPS coordinates. Explore 400+ journeys visually, click any route to watch the video, and discover railway connections between cities you may never have considered.
No ads, no sponsors, no algorithms. Just trains.
Who's Behind This
My name is David, and I'm based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I've been documenting railway journeys for years, building this archive one ride at a time — from filming and GPS tracking to building the website and maintaining the data.
This project wouldn't be what it is without the people who helped shape it. My wife has been part of this journey from the start — helping with logistics, and making it possible to keep this project running alongside everything else in life. Zvonimir Zelenika contributed invaluable research and data that helped build the foundation of this channel.
Support the Project
If you enjoy the videos or find the map useful, consider supporting the project on the coffee page. Every contribution helps keep the cameras rolling and the map growing.
