Yverdon-Les-Bains to Ste Croix Cab Ride
Watch on YouTubeAbout this journey
Yverdon-les-Bains station sits at a natural crossroads where standard-gauge mainlines — the Fribourg–Yverdon and Jura Foot routes — meet the metre-gauge Yverdon–Ste-Croix line operated by Travys. From this single hub, roughly 16,800 passengers pass through on a typical weekday, making it one of the more active interchange points in the canton of Vaud.
The Travys line departs on 1,000 mm gauge, calling first at Yverdon William Barbey on the western edge of the city before heading toward the Jura. Yverdon-les-Bains itself lies in a basin shaped by Lake Neuchâtel, the plains of the Orbe, and the hills of the Broye — a low, open landscape that gives way as the line climbs toward the Jura mountains and its terminus at Ste-Croix. That contrast — flat lakeshore plain at one end, upland Jura town at the other — defines the character of this metre-gauge journey. Ste-Croix is the western terminus of the line, and the Regio services linking the two stations run half-hourly or hourly, reflecting the route's role as a practical connection between the valley and the heights above.
