Česká Třebová station sits at a junction whose railway history stretches back to 1845, when the line between Prague and Olomouc first opened here. Four years later, in 1849, a second line to Brno followed, making Česká Třebová one of the earliest railway junctions in the Czech lands, after Břeclav and Přerov. That heritage is still visible in the station's role today, where international and intercity trains branch toward Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.

The ČD Class 151 — a Škoda 65Em electric locomotive — heads west from Česká Třebová toward Prague, covering the corridor that has connected Bohemia and Moravia since the mid-nineteenth century. The journey ends at Praha hlavní nádraží, a station that has been in operation since 14 December 1871, when it opened as Franz Josef Station under the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I. Its landmark Art Nouveau building was designed by Czech architect Josef Fanta and constructed between 1901 and 1909; the two-nave steel arched platform hall, roofed in 1905–1906, spans 2 x 33.3 m, stands 18 m high, and runs 233 m in length. Designated a cultural monument of the Czech Republic on 31 December 1976, Praha hlavní nádraží remains the largest Art Nouveau monument in the country — a destination that frames the final approach of this cab ride in more than a century of architecture.
